BOXED KITSAIR SUPPLY SETS CONT.Great care must be taken to ensure that theamount of air back flow provided is at leastequal to the combined consumption andextraction rate of all appliances.It is recommended that an air supply setshould be installed in every room where air isbeing mechanically removed.WARNING!Open flued appliances, such as an Aga cookeror a gas fired hot water appliance maintainscombustion by burning air from the kitchen.An extraction unit removing air from thekitchen without return air can starve theappliance of enough oxygen and in somecases can cause a reversal of flue gases, whichcan cause carbon monoxide poisoning.If an open flued appliance coexists with anextraction unit, then the extraction unit andits air supply vents must conform to theBuilding Regulations and a BS5440 productspillage test should be undertaken with theextracting appliance in operation. Gas hobs,gas ovens and balanced flue (room sealed)appliances are exempt from this test.Balanced flue boilers have no permanentlyopen air leakage paths and are therefore notaffected by air extraction.A selection of air supply sets is available tomeet most domestic requirements.
