PP-III-14Oscillatory Behaviour during Oxidation of C 2 -C 3 Olefins over Nickel andCobaltBychkov V.Yu., Tyulenin Yu.P., Slinko M.M., Korchak V.N.Semenov Institute of Chemical Physics RAS, Moscow, Russiaslinko@polymer.chph.ras.ruAlthough oscillatory behaviour during oxidation of C 1 -C 3 paraffins over nickel and cobalt wasintensively studied in recent years [1,2,3] there are no reports in literature on the oscillatorybehaviour during oxidation of light olefins over these catalysts. The goal of the present studywas to study the dynamic behaviour of ethylene and propylene oxidation over nickel andcobalt and to find out the oscillatory behaviour in these catalytic systems. The dynamic behaviour of C 2 H 4 and C 3 H 6 oxidation over Ni and Co foils was studied usingon-line mass-spectrometry and visual observations of the catalyst surface. Oscillations duringoxidation of C 2 -C 3 olefins over Ni and Co foils were detected at 650-700ºC. Colour variationsindicated periodic oxidation and reduction of the catalysts similar to the oscillations duringC 1 -C 3 paraffins oxidation [3]. The typical example of the oscillatory behaviour, observedduring C 3 H 6 oxidation over the Co foil is shown below. It can be seen, that CO and H 2oscillate in phase with similar waveforms, while CO 2 and H 2 O produce out-of-phaseoscillations with CO and H 2 .CO2C3H6Ion current, a.u.COH2OH2150 151 152Time, minThis work was supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (grantN 12-03-00282).References:[1] X.L.
