Demo #3709 Smeal Fire Apparatus Co. 75’ Heavy Duty AerialINLET, STEAMER, 6", LEFT SIDE, PUMPERThere shall be one 6"steamer inlet supplied on the left side of the pumper. The suction fittingsshall include a removable die cast screen to provide cathodic protection for the pump thus reducingcorrosion.SHORT STEAMER BARREL - LEFT SIDETo accommodate an intake valve without exceeding the legal overall body width, a shorter steamerbarrel shall be installed on the left side of the apparatus.One (1) 6" NST chrome plated Trident Model # 01.003.0 long handle steamer cap shall beprovided. The cap(s) shall have a blind insert, and vented threads.INLET, STEAMER, 6", RIGHT SIDE, PUMPERThere shall be one 6" steamer inlet located on the right side of the pumper. The suction fittingsshall include a removable die cast screen to provide cathodic protection for the pump thus reducingcorrosionSHORT STEAMER BARREL - RIGHT SIDETo accommodate an intake valve without exceeding the legal overall body width, a shortersteamer barrel shall be installed on the right side of the apparatus.VALVE, BUTTERFLY, 6", HALE, ELECTRIC ACTUATORThere shall be a Hale model MIV-E butterfly valve mounted on the steamer inlet behind the panel.The valve shall be a 6" full flow type valve with a suction tube attached terminating in 6" NSTthread.The inlet valve shall be operated by a 12 VDC electric motor with remote capabilities. A panelplacard shall be provided with the valve for indicating control operations. The placard shall havestatus lights to indicate whether the valve is open, closed, or traversing from one position toanother.A pressure relief valve shall be provided that is factory set to 125 PSI and field adjustable from 75to 250 PSI. The pressure relief valve shall provide overpressure protection for the suction hoseeven when the intake valve is closed. The outlet of the pressure relief valve shall have 2-1/2" NPTthreads to allow directing the discharge flow away from the pump operator's position.A manual override shall be provided to permit operation of the electric control valve in the event ofabnormal operating conditions. The manual override shall be designed to permit operation of thevalve without the use of special tools or disassembly of the pump panel or valve.BLEEDER VALVEThere shall be a Hale ABV, air bleeder valve, provided on the pump panel for the steamer / intakeequipped with a Hale MIV. The valve shall be used to bleed off air or water as per NFPArequirements.The Hale Bleeder Valve will be located on the RH (command)side and Controlled from the LHPump Panel.Revised 6/2/09 Page 18 of 114

The drain shall have an allbrass body with reinforced teflon seals. The valve shall be equipped with a chrome platedrectangular handle to provide a positive grip while personnel are wearing gloves.STEAMER INLET ADAPTERThere shall be one (1) Snap-tite model AS50T60NEL, 6" FNST long handle X 5" Storz 30 degreeadapter(s) for the steamer inlet supplied with the apparatus.The adapter shall be located on the right side 6" intake.5" STORZ CAP & CHAINThere shall be one (1) Snap-Tite model BS50 5" Storz blind cap(s) with chain supplied with theapparatusThe storz cap shall be located on the right side 6" intake adapter.CROSSLAY PRECONNECT HOSE BEDCrosslay preconnects shall have 90 degree elbow type swivel on discharge outlets.The divider(s) between the hose bed areas shall be fabricated of 3/16" aluminum. It shall bemounted in a channel on each end for adjustability.CROSSLAY HOSEBED COATINGThe interior of three (3) crosslay(s) and the divider for the crosslays shall be coated with a blackthermo-plastic polyurethane coating. The coating shall be durable enough to withstand the abuseof flying hose couplings without chipping or cracking.ALUMINUM CROSSLAY COVERThere shall be an aluminum non-slip treadbrite cover installed on the crosslay hose bed. Thecover shall not interfere with hose loading when in the open position. When in the open position,the cover shall remain open due to automatically engaging mechanisms that require no type oflatch operation to engage or release.The cover shall be provided with one full length stainless steel piano style hinge that shall attachthe cover to the body.The cover shall be light yet rigid. Opening of the cover may be performed by one person on oneside of the apparatus and yet the cover shall be rigid enough to support weight withoutdeformation.CROSSLAY / SPEEDLAY END COVERThere shall be a webbing restraint located on each end of the pre-connected crosslay / speedlay.The webbing shall be easily opened in the center with velcro closures.Revised 6/2/09 Page 19 of 114
