Demo #3709 Smeal <strong>Fire</strong> Apparatus Co. 75’ Heavy Duty AerialThe top portion of each "T" cross section shall measure 1-1/4" wide and 3/16" thick with beadedends. The vertical portion shall be 3/8" thick, beading out at the bottom to a thickness of 1/2" andtall enough to result in an overall height of 1". The "T" sections shall be spaced 3/4" apart to allowfor drainage and ventilation.Each "T" beam shall be constructed utilizing a core of 250,000 continuous glass fiber strands thatare high in resistance to tension, compression and bending.An outer sheath consisting of a continuous strand mat to prevent lineal splitting shall surround thecore. The sheath shall also serve to draw the protective resin to the bar surface. Bothreinforcements shall be pulled through an isophthalic polyester resin, treated with antimony trioxidefor fire resistance, to form a solid length.The flooring shall then be protected with a polyurethane coating to screen out ultraviolet rays. Thisbright white coating shall be baked on and shall provide a pleasing contrast when installed in theapparatus.The interior of the hose bed shall be coated with Line-X, a thermoplastic polyurethane coating.The coating shall be black in color.GROUND LADDERSThe ground ladders shall be stored within the torque box and two enclosed compartments, locatedbetween the torque box and the inside wall of the high side compartments. The ladders shall beremovable from the rear of the apparatus. The ladders shall be enclosed so road dirt and debriscannot foul or damage the ladders. The ladders shall rest in full-length slides and shall be arrangedso they can be removed individually. The apparatus shall be designed to accommodate the NFPAPamphlet 1901 (latest revision) ladder load. Ladders shall be provided by the apparatusmanufacturer and shall comply with NFPA Pamphlet 1931. The following ladders shall be suppliedwith the apparatus at the time of delivery:One (1) 10' folding attic ladder(s), Duo Safety 585A One (1) 14' Fresno ladder(s), Duo Safety 701One (1) 16' roof ladder(s), Duo Safety 875AOne (1) 24' Two section extension ladder(s), Duo Safety 900AOne (1) 35' Three section extension ladder(s), Duo Safety 1225AROOF LADDER MOUNTING BRACKETS - BASE SECTION, BEHIND LADDER SIGNRoof ladder brackets shall be provided on the outside of the base section for a roof ladder. Thebrackets shall be installed between the aerial base section and the ladder sign. The brackets shallbe formed using break and bend techniques for added strength and an outstanding appearance.To enhance durability, the brackets shall be coated with Line-X.Where the ladder rack is bolted to the aerial section or ladder sign, stainless steel fasteners shallbe employed.Revised 6/2/09 Page 37 of 114
