Hotels maycharge up to €10 per day for parking.Day 1 Fly to LjubljanaFly to Ljubljana Brnik airport and drive to Bled(34 kilometres). Check in to hotel for 2 nights.Day 2 Lake Bled and Lake BohinjFree day to walk around the emerald-greenlake, visit the 11th century Bled castle andtake a pletna boat ride to the island in themiddle of the lake. We also recommend avisit to Savica Waterfall and nearby LakeBohinj, the beautiful glacier lake and quieterdestination which will also suit culture loversas there are plenty of museums and churchesin the area. (B)Day 3 Bled To Piran Via Postojna CaveDepart Bled for Postojna Cave - the mustseefor nature lovers (102 kilometres). Onthe way you can visit the Karst Cave orPredjama Castle which is set in one of the mostbreathtaking locations halfway up a hillside ina cavern. Continue on to Piran (75 kilometres),a wonderful coastal town with its VenetianGothic architecture and narrow alleys. Here,the fish is the freshest in Slovenia. Overnightin Piran. (Please note that Piran is almost a carfree zone – so parking is in large car parks onthe outskirts of the city but you can drive tothe hotel to off-load your luggage). (B)packed full of Habsburg villas and palaces.Take a stroll along the 12 kilometre beachfrontpromenade. Overnight in Opatija. (B)Day 6 Opatija to LjubljanaDrive back to Ljubljana (148 kilometres) afterspending some time exploring inland Istria.Here, the scenery is mostly rolling agriculturalhills and attractive medieval hilltop villages,rather reminiscent of Tuscany. Wine routeshave been developed in this region, and it is alsofamous for white truffles. Check in to hotel for2 nights. (B)Day 7 LjubljanaFree day in Ljubljana to explore at leisure orbook optional excursions. (B)Day 8 Fly to the UKFree morning depending on time of flight,before drive to airport and drop off car. Flyback to the UK. (B)Day 4 Piran to PulaToday take your time to drive to Pula (96kilometres), and explore many places en route.Stop off in Porec with its Euphrasius Basilicaand remarkable 6th-century Byzantinemosaics. Many people also stop off in Rovinj,which has a delightful old town full of narrowcobbled streets, before continuing to Pula.Overnight in Pula. (B)Day 5 Pula to OpatijaThe best way to explore Pula is on foot so leavethe car at the hotel and visit Pula’s enormousRoman Amphitheatre before continuing toOpatija (101 kilometres). You can stop off atLabin en route (44 kilometres), a charmingmedieval hilltop town with its steep andnarrow streets and Baroque and Renaissancepalazzi.
