EMPLOYMENT AREAS URBAN DESIGN GUIDELINES3.4 Street NetworkThrough the detailed design of roads identified inSchedule C of the official plan, and through newroads created by plans of subdivision, there is anopportunity to establish a pattern of streets andblocks – a community fabric – that sets thegroundwork for employment areas.• Create a logical, inter-connected and convenientnetwork of streets.• Provide streets along the edge of significantnatural features, in order to give the features“frontage”.• Orient streets to provide views and access tonatural features.• Locate public land uses and stormwatermanagement ponds along major streets, and atprominent locations such as intersections or atthe ends of vistas. Maximize frontage for theseuses along major roads.• Create distinct development pockets or blocks ofland through the organization of the street andopen space system.
