JOINT SUCCESSSUCCEEDING WITH OUR TEAMSThrough training for young people, opportunities for women, new professions, moredynamic career paths, greater recognition of personal contribution <strong>and</strong> a healthysocial dialogue, <strong>RTE</strong> is seeking to develop its teams <strong>and</strong> earn their commitment.OUR RESPONSIBILITYTO OUR EMPLOYEESOver the next ten years, roughly half of <strong>RTE</strong>’s employeeswill retire. 235 employees retired from the company in <strong>2012</strong>.<strong>RTE</strong> has undertaken a vigorous programme of recruitmentto replace them <strong>and</strong> to take on board the skills that are nowrequired for the changes occurring to its businesses.A SHARP INCREASE IN HIRING<strong>RTE</strong> took on 578 people in <strong>2012</strong> (as against 493 in 2011):361 people were on permanent contracts (of which 26%women), <strong>and</strong> of those employed on fi xed-term contracts, 68were on professional training contracts <strong>and</strong> 146 were youngpeople on apprenticeship contracts. In addition, there werethree other st<strong>and</strong>ard fi xed-term contracts. The company isstrongly committed to a policy of qualifi cation for youngpeople, work-based training in every region, for every profession<strong>and</strong> at every level.The <strong>development</strong> of mentoring is a priority solution formaintaining skills <strong>and</strong> facilitating the transmission of knowledge.The 2010-<strong>2012</strong> plan for employing older workers setsout to encourage it. It plans ahead to the second partof people’s careers, adapting the working conditions of itsolder employees in order to enable those who wish to do soto remain in employment, doing suitable work that is usefulto the company. This approach is an illustration of <strong>RTE</strong> HumanResources’ desire to adapt <strong>and</strong> anticipate.MORE WOMEN IN THE COMPANY<strong>RTE</strong> is highly proactive in its determination to exp<strong>and</strong>the proportion of women in the company, particularly intechnical professions, where they are still under-represented.In the framework of the agreement of gender equality that wasconcluded in 2011, the target is for 21% of employees to bewomen in 2013. This was almost achieved in <strong>2012</strong>, with 20.7%of women in the total workforce. This figure has risen by almostthree points in five years. <strong>RTE</strong> acts on all available levers toachieve this: recruitment, taking on female apprentices, internaltransfers, promotion of technical professions. In <strong>2012</strong>, aninternal survey was conducted to identify obstacles <strong>and</strong>solutions for improving access by women to higher echelonswithin the company.EMPLOYMENT AND DISABILITYIn April <strong>2012</strong>, <strong>RTE</strong> signed the third three-year agreementon the employment of disabled people.
