Hegraduated in economics and got his masters degree at the Faculty ofEconomics in Ljubljana .Mr . Omerza worked mostly in the private sector ; he also worked as aprofessor of Political Economy at High School for Economics and College forSocial, Work . In 1996, he started working for publicly-owned company Mikrohitas the Head for the field of organization and development . In May, 1987, hebecame a director for a public working organization MIKRO ADI - dealing withcomputer software, computer education and consulting .The Slovene Assembly named him director general of Payment Agency on6 March, 1991 . He was elected to the Slovene National Parliament and hebecame a professional Member of Parliament on 22 March, 1993 . In 1996 hestarted working for the City of Ljubljana, but in a year's time returned to theprivate sector . He worked for SKB Bank, Telemach and GospodarskoRazstavisce . He left Gospodarsko Razstavisce in March 2003 because of hisbeing named Vice-mayor of the City of Ljubljana .Mr. Omerza was a member of the Democratic Party and its vice president (incharge of economics) . Currently he is vice president of the City Committeeand a member of Council of the Liberal Democratic Party of Slovenia .Mr . Omerza published many articles dealing with political and economicissues . He also published two books "Ricardo's Theory of Value" in which hetreats theoretical economic questions and "A Road Affair" in which he reflectsfrom a political and economical point of view on the recent history of theSlovene Republic and its position in the ex-Yugoslav federation .Long before Slovenia's independence Mr . Igor Omerza was one of the firstand chief advocate for complete economic independence of the state andSlovene Republic . He was the first who clearly demanded an introduction ofSlovene money .As Vice-mayor he is most active in the field of economics and finance .Travel Report, Hon.
