County's Committee ofVukovarsko-srijemska County2003 Co-opted in Presidency of H .D.Z .2003 Appointed Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and WaterManagementMeeting SummaryThe Minister for Agriculture, Mr Petar Cobankovic, welcomed the delegationand was pleased to be given the opportunity to discuss ways of improvingco-operation within the two countries .The Attorney gave a brief report on the success achieved by the CroatianDiaspora in South Australia and their prominence in the fishing and fishfarmingindustries centred around the Port Lincoln area .Mr Cobankovic was particularly pleased to have the attorney visit, given hisrole in representing minorities and the fact that many Croats have madeAustralia their second home . He was not surprised that Croats weresuccessful in the tuna industry since fishing is a great tradition for Croats andlittle wonder that they would succeed in passing it on . Croatia also deals withtuna and has been exporting to Japan to the tune of $100 million US dollars .It is therefore one of the most important product shares in the industryalthough they are not taking advantage of their potential fully with the catch asit constituted little more than eight percent of the total available biomass .For this reason, development in the industry is a priority and Croatia hasembarked on a national development program . Based on their analysis, it hasbeen identified that one of the major weaknesses is the industry is the ageand capacity of the fleet .
