She is a founding member <strong>of</strong> Angier Primitive Baptist Church.Ms. Petra, Mrs. <strong>Dupree</strong>’s granddaughter who now lives in Bahama, N.C. , grew up next doorto her grandmother and shared memories <strong>of</strong> life on the farm and learning how to cook underMrs. <strong>Dupree</strong>’s experienced instruction. Ms. Petra said her grandmother has always been therefor her and taught her some <strong>of</strong> life’s most valuable lessons."She’s always been the constant," Ms. Petra said, having lost both her mother and father in theyears past.Mrs. <strong>Dupree</strong> is the oldest <strong>of</strong> five children, four <strong>of</strong> whom are still living and are in their 90s.Two <strong>of</strong> her siblings, Ruby Jones and Harland Adams, were there to celebrate their sister’sbirthday.Mrs. <strong>Dupree</strong> makes the third long-time Angier resident to turn 100 years old in the past twoyears.On Dec. 8, 2004 Wiley Stout Currin, a former school teacher in the area, celebrated her 100thbirthday, and on Jan. 15, Alice <strong>Dupree</strong> Raynor, the oldest member <strong>of</strong> Angier United MethodistChurch, became a centenarian.Dunn Daily Record03/03/2006Ruth Adams <strong>Dupree</strong>, 100, <strong>of</strong> Angier died Thursday, March 2, 2006. She was born June 28,1905, to the late Purvis and Annie Stephenson Smith. She was preceded in death by herhusband, William A. <strong>Dupree</strong> Sr.; a son, W.A. <strong>Dupree</strong> Jr.; and a sister, Naomi A. Smith.Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Angier. Burial willbe at Montlawn Memorial Park.Survivors include a granddaughter, Ruth <strong>Dupree</strong> Petrea and husband Jim <strong>of</strong> Bahama;grandson, William A. <strong>Dupree</strong> III and wife Barbara <strong>of</strong> Raleigh; great-grandchildren, KatherinePetrea, Anna Petrea, Suzanna <strong>Dupree</strong> and Sara Scott <strong>Dupree</strong>; sisters, Maude Langdon andRuby Jones, both <strong>of</strong> Angier; and a brother, Harland R.
