Ms. Petra said her grandmother has always been therefor her and taught her some of life’s most valuable lessons."She’s always been the constant," Ms. Petra said, having lost both her mother and father in theyears past.Mrs. Dupree is the oldest of five children, four of whom are still living and are in their 90s.Two of her siblings, Ruby Jones and Harland Adams, were there to celebrate their sister’sbirthday.Mrs. Dupree makes the third long-time Angier resident to turn 100 years old in the past twoyears.On Dec. 8, 2004 Wiley Stout Currin, a former school teacher in the area, celebrated her 100thbirthday, and on Jan. 15, Alice Dupree Raynor, the oldest member of Angier United MethodistChurch, became a centenarian.Dunn Daily Record03/03/2006Ruth Adams Dupree, 100, of Angier died Thursday, March 2, 2006. She was born June 28,1905, to the late Purvis and Annie Stephenson Smith. She was preceded in death by herhusband, William A. Dupree Sr.; a son, W.A. Dupree Jr.; and a sister, Naomi A. Smith.Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Angier.
