RADIO TELEFÍS ÉIREANNExecutive BoardCathal Goan(Director-General)Cathal was appointed Director-General of RTÉ witheffect from October 2003.A graduate of UCD, he joined RTÉ in 1979 and helda variety of posts in RTÉ Radio and RTÉ Televisionbefore being appointed Editor, Irish LanguageProgramming in 1990. Appointed Ceannasaí of Teilifísna Gaeilge in 1994, he oversaw the establishment ofthe channel, Ireland’s third national television service.In March 2000, he was appointed Director (andsubsequently in 2003 Managing Director) of RTÉTelevision and a member of the RTÉ Executive Board.Noel Curran(Managing Director Television)Noel was appointed Managing Director of RTÉTelevision with effect from October 2003.A graduate in Communications from DCU, he held avariety of posts in the print media before joining RTÉin 1992. He initially worked as a reporter, producerand editor in RTÉ Television and was later appointedas Editor of Current Affairs in the News and CurrentAffairs Division.Conor Hayes(Chief Financial Officer)Conor joined RTÉ as Chief Financial Officer in October2001. In addition he oversees RTÉNL (Network),RTÉ Publishing IBD, Group IT & Technology, GroupProperty & Services and the Television LicenceMonitoring Unit. He is Chairman of the Trustees of theRTÉ Superannuation Scheme.A business graduate of UCD, he is a Fellow of theInstitute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and anAssociate Member of the Association of CorporateTreasurers in the UK. Prior to joining RTÉ he held arange of positions including: Deputy Chairman – CaraTreasury; Executive Director – Pleroma Group; ChiefExecutive – JetPhone; Chief Executive – Ryanair;Chief Financial Officer – Almarai Group; and Manager– SKC Corporate Finance.32
