Lowe was read his rights of appeal.FEBRUARY 2Stewards present: DM Ryan (chairman), G Thorsby(steward).Stewards opened an inquiry under ARR 11 (1) inrelation to an objection lodged by Mr J Hutchison ofPallara.The objection surrounded the eligibility of Zukowhich won race 5, a fifth grade at Albion Park on January26.Stewards took submissions from Hutchison, thetrainer of second placegetter Alex<strong>and</strong>er Allen, <strong>and</strong> MrR Giltinan, trainer of Zuko. Stewards also considered awritten submission from chief Grader Mr E Litter <strong>and</strong>three written exhibits concerning the lifetimeperformances of Zuko.Stewards accepted Little’s view that Zuko wasmistakenly graded <strong>and</strong> ineligible for the event he wasdrawn, subsequently competed in <strong>and</strong> won.Stewards applied ARR 84 which states: “Where asteward in charge of the meeting is satisfied uponinvestigation a greyhound was ineligible to compete inan event, such greyhound shall be disqualified from theevent <strong>and</strong> the stewards shall amend the placingsaccordingly”.Giltinan accepted Zuko was a fourth gradegreyhound, however, he indicated the owner wouldinitiate further discussion with the Board with regardto the loss of prizemoney.The result of the race was amended to read: 1Alex<strong>and</strong>er Allen, 2 Liams Smile, 3 Look Down Wendy.FEBRUARY 9Stewards present: S McGrath (acting chairman), CMcLune (steward).Stewards opened <strong>and</strong> inquiry in relation to acomplaint lodged by trainer John Hutchison against MrRobert Giltinan in relation to an incident after a stewardsinquiry on February 2.Stewards took evidence from Hutchison <strong>and</strong>Giltinan as well as steward Gail Thorsby.After hearing evidence Giltinan was charged underARR 125 (1) (q) which states: “Any person (includingan official) who commits or omits to do any act orengages in conduct which is in any way detrimental orprejudicial to the interest, welfare, image, control orpromotion of greyhound racing”.He pleaded not guilty, was found guilty <strong>and</strong> fined$100. He was read his rights of appeal.FEBRUARY 15The greyhound Rhythmic Affair was a latescratching from the Vince Curry Maiden qualifying trialsat Ipswich on February 11 after it was found to havediffering ear br<strong>and</strong>s to that shown on its registrationpapers.The br<strong>and</strong> in the dog presented read Q4239 - 74G,while the registration papers showed Q4239 - 74B.Stewards noted the greyhound presented was red brindle<strong>and</strong> not brindle as recorded.On February 13, stewards visited the kennels of MrPaul Felgate of Alberton. Upon inspection of severalgreyhounds, it was discovered the ear br<strong>and</strong> forRhythmic Affair had been recorded on the registrationcertificate for the greyhound known as Superlative.The ear br<strong>and</strong> for Superlative Q4239 - 74B wasrecorded on the registration certificate of RhythmicAffair. Stewards noted they were from the same litter<strong>and</strong> had very similar markings.In discovering the mix-up in certificates, it wouldappear stewards <strong>and</strong> club officials incorrectly identifiedSuperlative, which competed in Vince Curry qualifyingtrial 19, at kenneling, prior to the trial <strong>and</strong> at theconclusion of the trial.The ear br<strong>and</strong> recorded on the registration certificateof Superlative was Q4239 - 74B with the br<strong>and</strong> in thegreyhound’s ear reading Q4239 - 74G. Stewards notedboth greyhounds had been cleared to start by a GRAmarking up official.Stewards are not satisfied the greyhound known asSuperlative did compete in trial 19. Stewards actingunder GAR R11 (28) disqualified Superlative from theevent.Stewards ordered new registration papers beproduced for each greyhound.
