June 6 [<strong>Kate</strong>]Friday: Left camped early traveled about ten miles <strong>and</strong> stopped for dinner stopped about two hours. Crossedthe railroad this morning <strong>and</strong> traveled on the North side. Crossed Pole Creek twice Passed a great manycattle. Passed through Pine Bluff this evening when the passenger train passed us had full view <strong>of</strong> thepassengers <strong>and</strong> they <strong>of</strong> us. Stopped about a mile West <strong>of</strong> the Pine Bluffs at the foot <strong>of</strong> the Bluff covered withsmall pine trees did not get rambling over them as I wanted to as much. We washed some this evening. Ithas been quite pleasant to day with the exception <strong>of</strong> some hard rain this afternoon.June 6 [<strong>Jennie</strong>]Took dinner north <strong>of</strong> RR on Pole Creek It was warm this forenoon had a long walk felt fatiged when Ireached camp the wind blew very hard this afternoon I took a long nap camped tonight north <strong>of</strong> the RR onPole Creek west <strong>of</strong> Pine Bluff stasion at the foot <strong>of</strong> Pine Bluffs water clear washedJune 7 [<strong>Kate</strong>]Saturday: Left camp early <strong>and</strong> passed a station about ten O’clock we then left the railroad. Crossed PoleCreek twice <strong>and</strong> one ranch then stoped for dinner on Pole Creek where there was but little water we thencrossed the Creek twice again then passed another ranch We then left water <strong>and</strong> then traveled untill darkbefore coming to any we then came to a tank but could only get enough water for cooking. It is a verygloomy night for me. I saw the mountains today they looked like clouds but as we approached them theylooked more like mountains. Mother chilled again today.June 7 [<strong>Jennie</strong>]Passed Tracy <strong>and</strong> Egbert Stations <strong>and</strong> camped tonight at Burn Station couldent get any water took dinner onPole Creek there was no water in it had to dig a hole to get water for cooking baked today traveled aboutthirty miles turned cold this afternoonJune 8 [<strong>Kate</strong>]Sunday: Left camp this morning before breakfast <strong>and</strong> traveled eight or nine before we came to water wethen stopped <strong>and</strong> got breakfast <strong>and</strong> after discussing the outfit concluded to remain here untill morning it is avery pretty place on Crow Creek five miles East <strong>of</strong> Cheyenne. Have spent the day quite pleasantly. Thisafternoon quite a number <strong>of</strong> our neighbors gathered in out tent <strong>and</strong> sang Sunday School songs It seemed oldfashioned. It has got quite cold <strong>and</strong> has rained some this evening. Father has been chilling today <strong>and</strong> isfeeling very bad.
