August 11 [<strong>Kate</strong>]MondayWe left our camping ground <strong>and</strong> followed Burnt River eleven miles to where we stopped for dinner hadsplendid grass for the stock after dinner traveled five miles when it began to rain <strong>and</strong> we had to camp.Camped by a Spring in a very pretty place It quit raining <strong>and</strong> we had a pretty evening.16 milesAugust 11 [<strong>Jennie</strong>]MondayI was up early this morning started in good time traveled about eleven miles this forenoon took dinner at ornear an old Stage Stasion traveled about six miles this afternoon it has been showery today had quite a nicerain this evening camped tonight at a stream in a canon the mountains have been timbered todayAugust 12 [<strong>Kate</strong>]TuesdayWe left the Spring <strong>and</strong> traveled ten miles to Baker City on Powder River Crossed Powder River <strong>and</strong> stoppedfor dinner three miles from town by a ranch has splendid water. After dinner traveled nine miles <strong>and</strong>camped in a lane by a bachelor ranch had food grass <strong>and</strong> water Crossed Salmon Creek after dinner.22 milesAugust 12 [<strong>Jennie</strong>]TuesdayLeft camp in good time this morning we come through Baker City this forenoon a delapadated place tookdinner three miles west near a farmhouse had splendid water come nine miles since dinner camped for thenight at a farmhouse in Powder River Valley timber on either side <strong>of</strong> us tonight
