August 1 [<strong>Jennie</strong>]FridayI am tired tonight we done a large washing <strong>and</strong> baking after we put our clothes away quite a good deal <strong>of</strong>packing Mr Lodon <strong>and</strong> Joe went to work this morning one <strong>of</strong> the soldiers spent the evening with meAugust 2 [<strong>Kate</strong>]Saturday:Was spent rather lonely in preparing for traveling next weekAugust 2 [<strong>Jennie</strong>]SaturdayThis has been a long lonesome day as there is no one in camp but our own family Papa sold our little wagonI am feeling rather uncomfortable just now we had onion pot pie for dinner which wasnt like .......August 3 [<strong>Kate</strong>]SundayToday I wrote a letter but was detained by a Miner who came to camp he is quite a talker in the eveningseveral old friends from other camps called <strong>and</strong> made it quite livelyAugust 3 [<strong>Jennie</strong>]SundayThis has been a long day although we have had a good deal <strong>of</strong> company where spent the day with us thelittle soldier boy spent a part <strong>of</strong> the day <strong>and</strong> the evening Frank Frost took us by surpriseAugust 4 [<strong>Kate</strong>]MondayWe left our camping ground <strong>and</strong> joined the remainder <strong>of</strong> the crowd after we crossed the North side <strong>of</strong> BoiseRiver. the ford was very good <strong>and</strong> had no trouble in crossing. We left the river about nine O’clock <strong>and</strong>traveled eleven miles <strong>and</strong> stopped for dinner on Boise River had to buy hay there being no grass. Afterdinner we traveled three miles <strong>and</strong> camped the grass is very poor. We have passed through a very prettycountry being thickly settled <strong>and</strong> some very nice buildings.15 miles
