August 24 [<strong>Kate</strong>]SundayWe left our camping ground <strong>and</strong> traveled ten miles to where the road leaves Willow Creek we then stoppedfor dinner We passed quite a number <strong>of</strong> nice looking farms <strong>and</strong> houses. Some were preaching in the SchoolHouse we passed which made it seem as though they were civi-lized. After dinner we left Willow Creek <strong>and</strong>traveled about seven miles <strong>and</strong> made a dry camp in order to have grass for the stock. The dust has been verythick today.17 milesAugust 25 [<strong>Kate</strong>]MondayStarted quite early this morning <strong>and</strong> traveled three miles to Willow Springs. There finding one <strong>of</strong> Mr.Partehs horses was unable to travel we had to lay over. The ladies <strong>of</strong> the ranch called on us we found themquite agreeable After supper Mrs. Kelley came over she is a great conversationalist she is also a great singer<strong>and</strong> favored us with ‘My gr<strong>and</strong>father’s clock” which was quite interesting.3 milesAugust 25 [<strong>Jennie</strong>]MondayWe left Willow Springs in very good time traveled thirteen miles this forenoon took dinner on Rock Creekgrass poor came about six miles since dinner <strong>and</strong> stoped for the night on Rock Creek west <strong>of</strong> a store thewind is blowing hard <strong>and</strong> its not at all warm we are in a hollow <strong>and</strong> by getting behind some bushes we cankeep very comfortable [<strong>Jennie</strong>’s diary entry out <strong>of</strong> sequence with <strong>Kate</strong>’s August 26 th entry.]August 26 [<strong>Kate</strong>]TuesdayWe left Willows Spring this morning <strong>and</strong> traveled twelve miles to Rock Creek stopped for dinner thenfollowed the Creek for about six miles <strong>and</strong> camped. The stock had to be taked about two miles to grass. Ithas been quite cold this after noon the wind has blown hard <strong>and</strong> the dust as thick as ever.18 miles[<strong>Jennie</strong> has no diary entries until August 29th]
