There is still muchto attend to before we get a chance to recharge our batteries overthe summer vacation and it is important to keep focused onacademics in the coming weeks. The biggest academic eventsin the near future are the beginning of study leave for 12th and10th graders, respectively, and final examinations at the end ofthe year.As reported in last month’s Informer by Ms. Park, the IB andIGCSE Exams Coordinator, IB study leave begins on Friday1st May and for IGCSE students taking 5 or more IGCSE’s,study leave begins on Monday 11th May. Ms Park has also metwith all the IB and IGCSE students to provide all details onthe exams and examination process. Further details are foundin her section of this edition. Good luck to all those studentstaking IB or IGCSE examinations in the coming weeks.While the students are on study leave they are free to come intoschool to work with their teachers, study alone or in groupsor avail themselves of the library facilities. Please rememberthat your student might need your help in putting the “study”in study leave. They should be creating a study schedule andsticking to it in order to do their best. They should also beeating well, getting daily exercise and getting adequate sleep.High School final examinations will be happening on 22nd,25th, 26th and 27th May for every student in 9th and 11thgrade and every 10th grade student who is not on study leave.The general exam advice given above would apply equally wellto students taking final examinations.8 · The In f o r m e r 29 Ap r i l 2009 www.isstavanger.no
