Net Migration Rate<strong>Pitt</strong> <strong>County</strong> had a relatively high net migration rate compared to the other counties withinthe region. Only Greene <strong>County</strong> with a net migration rate of 18.8% between 1990 and2000 exceeded the <strong>Pitt</strong> <strong>County</strong> rate of 15.8% net migration. The 2010 population density of 260 persons per square mile was thehighest of the eight counties compared.A comparison of population density over the last twenty years shows that <strong>Pitt</strong> <strong>County</strong>density has increased 88.4% while that of Edgecombe, Lenoir and Martin Counties hasstayed relatively unchanged or decreased.
