Net Migration RatePitt County had a relatively high net migration rate compared to the other counties withinthe region. Only Greene County with a net migration rate of 18.8% between 1990 and2000 exceeded the Pitt County rate of 15.8% net migration. The 2010 population density of 260 persons per square mile was thehighest of the eight counties compared.A comparison of population density over the last twenty years shows that Pitt Countydensity has increased 88.4% while that of Edgecombe, Lenoir and Martin Counties hasstayed relatively unchanged or decreased.
