Vakıfkurucuları, maddi desteğeihtiyaç duyan başarılı gençlereeğitim imkânı sağlayarak fırsateşitliğine katkıda bulunmayımisyon edinmişti. Bu konudadevletin yükünü paylaşmanın“işadamlarına, aydınlara vehalkımıza düşen kaçınılmazbir yurt ödevi olduğunu”vurguladıkları çağrı metni, hergeçen gün artan bir ilgi vedestekle karşılandı. Başlangıçtasahip olunan mütevazı bütçeyle1.000 öğrenciye burs vermekhedeflenmişti; bugün ise bu sayı166.000’e yaklaşmış durumda.Sosyal sorumluluk alanındaörnek uygulamalara öncülükeden TEV’in başarısınınarkasındaki sırrı öğrenmek üzere,sorularımızı kendisi de geçmiştebir TEV bursiyeri olan TurgutBozkurt’a yönelttik.TÜRSAB: Türkiye’de bugüneğitim alanındaki sosyalsorumluluk çalışmalarıdüşünüldüğünde TEV akla gelenilk isim. Vakfın koruduğu buönderlik vasfının ve toplumdayarattığı güvenin kaynaklarısizce neler?Turgut Bozkurt: Biliyorsunuz,TEV’in kuruluşunu temellendiren,Sayın Vehbi Koç önderliğinde201 değerli aydın, sanayici,akademisyenin bir araya gelipsorduğu “Türk milli eğitimine nasılkatkıda bulunabiliriz?” sorusuydu.Kuruluştan bu yana geçenzamanda, her biri önemli başarılaraimza atmış bu insanların toplumdayarattığı güven hiç eksiltilmedenkorundu ve TEV adeta bir noterhüviyeti kazandı. Tüm varlıklarınıvakfımıza bağışlayarak geleceğinigaranti altına alan insanların sayısıbugün 1.000 kişiye yaklaşmışdurumda. Bunlar arasındaülkemizin çok değerli sanatçıları,siyasetçiler, akademisyenler,hukukçular, hekimler, evhanımları var. Bağışçıların bukadar farklı kesimlere mensupolması, TEV’in herkesin gönlündesıcak duygular yaratan, güvenilirbir kurum olduğunun somutgöstergelerinden biri.Bu güvenin çeşitli kaynakları var.Bunlardan biri, bağışçılarla TEVarasında işleyen mekanizma.Öncelikle, TEV çatısı altındaher bağışçı adeta kendi vakfınıkurar. Bünyemizde bu şekildedüzenlenmiş dört bine yakınfon var. Her yılın sonundafon sahipleri, bağışlarıyla ilgilibütün ayrıntıları kapsayanbilgileri yazılı olarak alır vearzularının, vasiyetinin harfiyenyerine getirilmiş olduğunuTurkish Education Foundation (TEV)was founded on May 4, 1967 underthe leadership of Vehbi Koç by 201esteemed names each of who werevery successful in their individualarea. Mission of the founders of thisfoundation was to participate in equaleducation opportunity principal byproviding education opportunities forsuccessful young persons who werein need of financial support. The textof their call where they emphasizedthat it was “an indispensable dutyfor the businessmen, intellectualsand the people in general” to take theburden of the state in this subject hasalways been accepted with graduallyincreasing interests and supports.It was initially aimed to providescholarships to 1000 students withthe modest budget they could make;however, today this number is nearly166,000.We directed our questions to Mr.Turgut Bozer, who also received aTEV scholarship in the past, aboutthe secret behind the success ofTEV which has always pioneeredmodel implementations in socialresponsibility.TÜRSAB: Considering the socialresponsibility works in educationin Turkey, TEV is the first namethat comes to one’s mind. In youropinion, what are the sources of thisleadership qualification which thefoundation has been maintaining andthe trust it created in the public?Turgut Bozkurt: As you know,TEV’s foundation was based on thequestion “How can we contributeto the Turkish national education?”which was asked by 201 esteemedintellectuals, industrialists andacademicians under the leadership ofMr. Vehbi Koç. During the time thatelapsed since foundation, the trustof the public which had been createdby these people each of who hadsignificant successes was protectedwithout lessening it and TEV gainedan identity of, as if, a notary public.Number of people who donated theirentire property to our foundationto secure their future is now nearly1,000. Among them are valuableartists, politicians, academicians,lawyers, doctors and housewives.Having so many different sectionsof the society among the donatorsis one of the indicators of TEV’sbeing a reliable institution whichcreates warm feelings in the heart ofeveryone.There are various sources of thistrust. One of them is the mechanismthat works between the donatorsand TEV.
