ZOO SAFARI (Ages 3 & up)<br />

Get closer to <strong>the</strong> animals on your day at <strong>the</strong> Zoo with <strong>the</strong><br />

assistance <strong>of</strong> an <strong>in</strong>terpreter. We’ll tour <strong>the</strong> zoo, meet some<br />

critters, and have a howl<strong>in</strong>’ good time! Or…try a <strong>the</strong>med<br />

safari that will emphasize certa<strong>in</strong> animal groups, cont<strong>in</strong>ents,<br />

or animal features. Please ask us about possible animal<br />

<strong>the</strong>me options for your Zoo Safari program!<br />

NOSY NOSES (Ages 3–6)<br />

Discover some <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> amaz<strong>in</strong>g noses that belong to our<br />

Zoo animals, and learn how many animals use <strong>the</strong>ir noses.<br />

Elephants use <strong>the</strong>m for work, sea lions have noses to keep<br />

out water, and snakes hide <strong>the</strong>ir ‘smellers’ <strong>in</strong>side <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

mouth. Have nosy encounters with some animals, play a<br />

nose match<strong>in</strong>g b<strong>in</strong>go game, and test your own sense <strong>of</strong><br />

smell by play<strong>in</strong>g our mystery scent game.<br />

TAIL TALES (Ages 3–6)<br />

Discover <strong>the</strong> tale beh<strong>in</strong>d those tails! You’ll f<strong>in</strong>d tails <strong>of</strong> all<br />

shapes and sizes and discover how different animals use<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir tails to move, show <strong>of</strong>f, communicate, and defend<br />

<strong>the</strong>mselves. We’ll guess <strong>the</strong> mystery tails shown <strong>in</strong> our tail<br />

tales cards and f<strong>in</strong>d an animal that has no tail at all! Through<br />

encounters and artifacts, your students will learn all about<br />

animals -- from beh<strong>in</strong>d.<br />

FUR, FEATHERS, AND SCALES (Ages 4–6)<br />

Do all birds have fea<strong>the</strong>rs? Do all mammals have fur? Do<br />

amphibians and reptiles share any <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> same features?<br />

Students will get a chance to feel <strong>the</strong> difference <strong>in</strong> textures<br />

between fur, fea<strong>the</strong>rs, and scales. We’ll tour <strong>the</strong> Zoo to see<br />

and meet a variety <strong>of</strong> animals that represent each major<br />

group - birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians.<br />
