HANDS-ON HISTORY - HERITAGE BADGE
John Walter Museum
Make your field trip go down in history with some “handson”
fun. With John Walter’s homes as your setting, you will
make ice cream, dip candles, examine artifacts, and cook
up a tasty treat to eat!
HERITAGE HOME SKILLS (Ages 9–15)
How did they do that back then? Homes in the time of early
Edmonton settlers had no electricity, convenience foods,
or access to the types of foods we see on grocery store
shelves today. Home skills for the early Edmontonians were
much different than the skills of today. You’ll make candles,
jam, butter, and bake scones on a wood-burning stove to
discover domestic skills of the past.
