STALKING AND TRACKING (Ages 6–11)<br />

Discover <strong>Edmonton</strong>’s wildlife by identify<strong>in</strong>g and follow<strong>in</strong>g<br />

tracks <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> mud or snow and search<strong>in</strong>g for o<strong>the</strong>r clues<br />

about who’s been hang<strong>in</strong>g around <strong>the</strong> Nature Centre. Learn<br />

how to approach animals so you can enjoy <strong>the</strong>ir beauty, play<br />

wildlife stalk<strong>in</strong>g games, and make your own plaster cast <strong>of</strong><br />

an animal’s track.<br />

NATURE OBSERVER (Ages 6–11)<br />

Visit <strong>the</strong> Aspen Parkland forest surround<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> Nature<br />

Centre. Discover <strong>the</strong> birds, trees, <strong>in</strong>sects, and o<strong>the</strong>r animals<br />

to learn about <strong>the</strong>ir lives. Activities are seasonally based but<br />

can <strong>in</strong>clude bird-watch<strong>in</strong>g, nature games, <strong>in</strong>sect hunts and<br />

more. Handle artifacts, visit <strong>the</strong> honeybee hive and explore<br />

<strong>the</strong> exhibit room.<br />

SEASONAL SUPER SLEUTH (Ages 3–6)<br />

Search for clues by us<strong>in</strong>g your senses and observation skills<br />

to solve <strong>the</strong> mysteries <strong>of</strong> nature each season. We’ll learn<br />

all about local animals through a hands-on exhibit and<br />

outdoor nature trail explorations. Visit <strong>the</strong> garter snakes,<br />

salamanders and honeybees too, and discover what <strong>the</strong>y<br />

do to cope with <strong>the</strong> chang<strong>in</strong>g seasons. <strong>Program</strong> may also<br />

<strong>in</strong>clude a visit to <strong>the</strong> Tegler Discovery Zone (optional).<br />

POND EXPLORATION (Ages 7–11)<br />

Capture water tigers <strong>in</strong> your dip net, search for phantom<br />

midges, and look for birds and mammals that live near<br />

<strong>the</strong> pond. This program is full <strong>of</strong> exploration for curious<br />

kids. Led by a naturalist, you’ll learn about some <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

fantastic creatures that live <strong>in</strong> ponds. Meet a salamander<br />

or garter snake and play some nature games dur<strong>in</strong>g this<br />

fun-filled program.<br />

BUSY BEES AND BUGS (Ages 3–8)<br />

Peek <strong>in</strong>side a honeybee hive and discover <strong>the</strong> fasc<strong>in</strong>at<strong>in</strong>g<br />

world <strong>of</strong> bees. Search for flowers, collect pollen, dance like<br />

bees, and taste honey <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> comb! Learn to separate bee<br />

fact from bee fiction by handl<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>active hives and nests.<br />
