S<strong>of</strong>tware Modification and Enhancement Release MethodsAll changes to the existing <strong>DOCS</strong> baseline will be made by the <strong>DOCS</strong>development team in the <strong>DOCS</strong> test environment. All changes resultingfrom system problems, system modifications, and/or system enhancementswill be fully tested by a designated member <strong>of</strong> the development team.Changes will then be tested and approved by the <strong>DOCS</strong> <strong>System</strong>Administrator or a designee before being moved into the <strong>DOCS</strong>production environment.The s<strong>of</strong>tware release method will be determined by the category <strong>of</strong> theSCR. One or more <strong>of</strong> the following methods will be employed dependingon the conditions <strong>of</strong> the SCR and the preference <strong>of</strong> the CMB.SCR Type Description Technical Term Release Method1 Immediate Continuous Cutover Changes to a baseline systemare implemented continuouslyupon occurrence.2 FirstAvailabilityBlock ReleaseChanges are put into thebaseline as a group, whenwarranted by the size <strong>of</strong> thegroup.3 Monthly Block Release Changes scheduled to beplaced into the baseline as agroup at the end <strong>of</strong> the month.Other s<strong>of</strong>tware release methods that may be employed are as follows:Periodic UpdatePhase ApproachBaselines are revised inresponse to a regularlyscheduled review performedto identify any requiredchanges.A large change is divided intomanageable subtasks that areimplemented sequentially tominimize disruption to thebaseline.Docsscb5c.doc Page 31 <strong>of</strong> 93 2/23/2007
