2. Documents to be enclosed– Aliens shall enclose the following documents with the application:(a) a valid travel document to which a visa may be affixed (see Annex 11);(b)where appropriate, documents supporting the purpose and the conditions of theplanned visit;If the information supplied is sufficient to enable the diplomatic mission orconsular post to ascertain that the applicant is acting in good faith, the staffresponsible for issuing the visas may exempt the applicant from submitting theabovementioned supporting documents.3. 4. Personal interview with the applicantAs a general rule, the applicant shall be called on to appear in person in order to explainverbally the reasons for the application, especially where there are doubts concerning theactual purpose of the visit or the applicant's intention to return to the country of departure.This requirement may be waived in cases where the applicant is well-known or where thedistance from the diplomatic mission or consular post is too great, provided that there is nodoubt as to the good faith of the applicant and, in the case of group trips, a reputable andtrustworthy body is able to vouch for the good faith of those persons concerned.Part VIII.5 contains more detailed rules on visa applications processed by privateadministrative agencies, travel agencies and tour operators and their retailers.5. Conduct of staffMember States' diplomatic missions or consular posts shall ensure that applicants are receivedcourteously.Consular staff shall, in the performance of their duties, fully respect human dignity.
