1. Examination of visa applications1.1. Verification of the visa application– the length of visit requested shall correspond to the purpose of the visit– the replies to the questions on the form shall be full and consistent. The form shallinclude an identity photograph of the visa applicant and shall indicate, as far as possible,the main destination to which he is travelling.1.2. Verification of the applicant's identity and verification as to whether an alert has been issuedon the applicant in the Schengen Information System (SIS) for the purpose of refusing entryor verification as to whether the applicant poses any other threat (to security) which wouldconstitute grounds for refusal to issue the visa or whether, from an immigration point of view,the applicant poses a risk in that on a previous visit he/she overstayed the authorised length ofstay.1.3. Verification of the travel document:– Verification as to whether the document is in order or not: it should be complete andshould not be amended, falsified or counterfeited;– Verification of the territorial validity of the travel document: it should be valid forentry into the territory of the Contracting Parties;– Verification of the period of validity of the travel document: the period of validity ofthe travel document should exceed that of the visa by three months (Article 13(2) ofthe Convention);9042/10 PR/lm 32DG H 1 AEN
