Molecular diversity in the genus Amaranthus Definite answers to this question have not been feasible by other recent molecular examinations, either (TRANSUE et al. 1994; LANOUE et al. 1996; RANADE et al. 1997; SUN et al., 1999), although an increase in the number of accessions of the individual species might provide more insight into this topic. As the AFLP primer combinations employed here seem to be applicable in all species of the entire genus, the respective analysis will soon be executed on the entire genebank collection of 151 accessions without additional optimisations.
