<strong>CCM</strong> Applicant <strong>Handbook</strong>Certified Construction ManagerCMCICertification Eligibility RequirementsThe Board of Governors has the sole authority to advance an applicant to candidacy. Thisdetermination is based solely on the information supplied by the applicant in the applicationform, including the Qualifications Matrix, Responsible‐in‐Charge Experience, Education orGeneral construction/design experience, and Client References. The Governors evaluation willfocus on ensuring that the criteria specified for Responsible‐in‐Charge CM experience is matchedby the documented experience submitted by the applicant. Those applications that meet thiscriterion will be advanced to candidacy.Note: <strong>CMAA</strong> believes that all participants in projects and programs are responsible for fulfillingtheir obligations in an ethical and professional manner, regardless of delivery system or contractmethod. CMCI permits personnel working for construction contractors, whether at risk or not, tosit for the <strong>CCM</strong> exam if their personal experience meets the eligibility requirements and theirowner references attest to their ethical conduct.The first step in the application process is to complete the eligibility form of the application. Theapplicant must acknowledge that he or she has the requisite experience as being “Responsiblein‐Charge”(RIC). The 48 months RIC experience together with all the required experience in thesix domain of knowledge and skills in the qualifying matrix and the education requirement willallow the applicant to move forward to the application.Responsible‐In‐ChargeThe Board of Governors has defined Responsible‐In‐Charge (RIC) as follows: The candidateʹsexperience must be realized during project execution as part of a project delivery team.
