Students witha BOG Fee Waiver must pay the required health fee, <strong>College</strong>Service Charge and materials fees or you will be dropped fromyour classes if you register prior to the start of the semester.Verify your registration and print your receipt/Student ClassSchedule – Once you register online and pay your fees, youmay print confirmation of your payment and a Student ClassSchedule showing the course information for the courses inwhich you are enrolled. Always double check your registrationto make sure it is accurate.Important Note: Your Student Class Program also includes feecancellation/refund dates and withdrawal dates for each classthat you are taking.Buy your books - Bring a copy of your Student Class Schedulewith you to the bookstore to help you find the books or goonline to purchase your textbooks. If buying in person, pleaseremember to bring some form of photo identification.Student Photo ID - If you are a first time student at GWC,bring your Student class Schedule and another form of photoidentification to the Admissions Office (during normal businesshours) and we’ll take your picture and give you a student ID onthe spot! All fees must be paid to receive your ID card.Attend Class – Go to class! If you miss the first day of class, yourseat may be given away to another student. If you enrolled in anonline class, log in to the class via the “My Courses” link in yourMyGWC portal on the first day of the semester. If you don’t log induring the first week of class you may be dropped.Parking decal – (Must be purchased online) If you purchased aparking decal, make sure you have it displayed on your vehicleby the end of the second week of the semester. Campus Safetystarts ticketing the Monday of the 3rd week of classes (2ndweek for the summer term).Read Deadlines – Deadlines for refunds, dropping classes, andselecting a pass/no pass option are printed on your StudentClass Schedule.It is your responsibility to make sure you meet deadlines forrefunds, withdrawals, and pass/no pass options, so don’t wait.Bottom line, CHECK your MyGWC portal page daily. It willinclude targeted announcements regarding registration,grades, cancelled classes, and much more. If all else fails, justcontact Admissions & Records and ask us!

Appointments are assigned based on a priority policyestablished by the District. New and returning studentsreceive their appointments in the order their application wassubmitted. You can check your registration appointment timeonline via you’re MyGWC portal page (Registration Status link).Continuing StudentsStudents enrolled during the Fall 2010 semester can check theirregistration appointment for the spring semester beginningNovember 1st by logging into your MyGWC.Registration for New & Returning StudentsMost New/Returning students will receive an account to login to MyGWC, the college’s student/faculty web portal oncethe Admissions office processes your application. Account (login) information will be emailed to the email address suppliedon the application. This email will include information aboutyour MyGWC account (username), student email address,registration appointment time and instructions to log in toMyGWC. If the email you receive indicates you need to completeorientation and/or placement testing, do the following as soonas possible so you are not blocked from registering for yourclasses:Veteran StudentsIn accordance with SB272, <strong>Golden</strong> <strong>West</strong> <strong>College</strong> will offer priorityregistration to veterans discharged from active duty within twoyears of admissions to the college. For additional information,please contact the Veterans Clerk in the Admissions Office at(714) 895-8140Things to Know Before You RegisterMake sure you have completed your placement testing, proofof pre-requisites, and/or attended an orientation.BE PREPARED. Select plenty of alternative classes before youregister. Check for: (a) prerequisites (b) concurrent enrollmentor co-requisites that require you to enroll in more than oneclass or section (e.g., lecture/lab combinations) (c) check theclass schedule via your MyGWC portal page for available classes.Have a back-up plan in case the class you want is closed.Clear Holds: Outstanding holds can be viewed via MyGWC(Registration Status). You must clear all holds which blockregistration before you will be able to register. If a hold existson your records, a contact number will be displayed so that youmay call for specific information regarding the hold.Registration Restrictions:Students may not enroll in:a. More than 19 units (12 units is full-time)b. Courses that overlap in time (time conflict).c. Two sections of the same course, unless they are a first andsecond 8 week class and coded as a repeatable course.Registrationd. Any course in which you have received any combinationof two or more D, F, NP, or NC’s. If you have previouslyattempted a course twice unsuccessfully, your registrationin that course will be automatically blocked. See “CourseRepeatability Policy.”e. A course in which an Incomplete (I, IB, IC, ID, IF, or INP) hasbeen assigned.f. Classes for which you have not met the prerequisites.Financial Aid Students:Apply early for financial aid. Contact the Financial Aid Office tomake sure your financial aid is posted to your records prior toregistration. All students, including those receiving financialaid, are required to pay or all fees due on registration account.Verify your account balance via your MyGWC portal page.Prerequisite ChallengeStudents are entitled to challenge prerequisites. It is theresponsibility of the student to provide compelling evidenceto support a prerequisite challenge. The Assessment Centerhas information on the challenge procedure and the formsfor Biology, Chemistry, English, Math, ESL, Physics and WorldLanguages.If you are planning to enroll in in a course with an enforcedprerequisite you must meet one of the following:a. Your GWC placement test results must recommend you forthe class, orb. You must have completed the prerequisite course at GWCafter 1989 or be currently enrolled in it, orc. You must have completed the prerequisite course at GWCprior to 1989 or at another college. To show proof of theprerequisite completion bring a copy of your transcript orgrade report to the Admissions Office prior to registration.Please allow 24 hours to process.How to Register for ClassesYou may register for classes on or after your assignedappointment time. To register for classes, login to your MyGWCand follow the steps below:1. Click on the Student tab2. Click on “Add or Drop Classes”3. Select a term (GWC Fall 2010) then “Submit.”4. Enter Course Reference Numbers (CRNs) from the printedclass schedule then click on “Finalize add/drop”.5. If a course requires enrollment in two sections, i.e. a lectureand a lab, both CRN’S must be entered at the same time.Please Note: You are not enrolled in classes until youclick on “Finalize add/drop.”6. After you have clicked on “Finalize add/drop” and youhave verified your registration, click on “Pay now” to payyour fees.Admissions/Registration
