Itincludes a combination <strong>of</strong> additional research and developmentspace and housing in the <strong>Hunters</strong> <strong>Point</strong> <strong>Shipyard</strong> site.Land Use ProgramThis variant would be similar to Variant 1, except that 1,625residential units would be shifted from <strong>Candlestick</strong> <strong>Point</strong> tothe <strong>Hunters</strong> <strong>Point</strong> <strong>Shipyard</strong> and only 3 million square feet <strong>of</strong>research and development space would be constructed in the<strong>Hunters</strong> <strong>Point</strong> <strong>Shipyard</strong> instead <strong>of</strong> the 5 million proposed underVariant 1. Similar to Variant 1, the research and developmentspace would be focused on a “green-technology” campus,creating a substantial new employment center.
