Implementation PlanThe City of Devonport Events Strategy 2007-2010 creates a strategic three year framework for the delivery of events and culturalactivities. The Strategy was developed to work across the council and community. The Strategy outlines social and cultural benefits thatwill reinvigorate the City’s event calendar and further distinguish Devonport as a community that values the diverse cultural interests ofresidents and visitors alike.The City of Devonport Events Strategy is evaluated annually to ensure that it remains accountable and the actions remain relevant tothe direction in which Events in Devonport are to be developed. This strategy is to be implemented and evaluated via the followinginitiatives.Events Reference GroupThe Event Reference Group is an interdepartmental multidisciplinary group of Council Officers who assess, refer, advise and assist thoseDevonport events which seek Council approval and/or assistance. The aim of the Events Reference Group is to streamline methods ofassessing and providing advice on event management issues. In particular, it will be the role of the Events Reference Group to discussand process applications by event organisers regarding the following issues:RequirementsTemporary Occupancy PermitsPlace of Assembly LicencesBuilding PermitsLiquor LicencesDangerous goods LicencePublic LiabilityFood – environmental health requirementsEvent Concept AssessmentTraffic managementCoordinate the level of assistance that is to be given by Council Officers and their relevant departments to a particularevent.20
