Commonwealth Scholarships<br />

<strong>Higher</strong> <strong>Education</strong> Commission invites applications from Pakistani/AJK nationals, under following three categories<br />

of scholarships, offered by the Commonwealth Commission United Kingdom, commencing from the year 2011. The<br />

eligibility criteria is as follows:<br />

Post Doctoral Fellowship Programme<br />

I. Holding a Doctorate degree<br />

II. Must be employed for at-least five years, as an academic staff member, in a university, which he/she must<br />

join back after completion of studies in UK. The application form must be forwarded by the Vice<br />

Chancellor/Head of the University, where the applicant is employed<br />

III. Those applicants belonging to the field of Medicine and Dentistry must have qualified before October 1,<br />

2001<br />

IV. Be available to join the scholarship programme in United Kingdom by October 1, 2011<br />

PhD Studies Scholarship Programme<br />

I. Must hold a full-time university teaching post, which he/she will join back after completion of studies in<br />

UK. The application form must be forwarded by the Vice Chancellor/Head of the University, where the<br />

applicant is employed.<br />

II. Should not have obtained below 50 per cent marks in their entire academic career (in any examination<br />

i.e. SSC, HSC, BA/BSc, Masters, etc.)<br />

III. Should have obtained at least 60 per cent or above marks in Masters (e.g. MA/MSc or other 16 years of<br />

Masters level education) or in professional degrees e.g. BE/BSc Engineering, MBBS, BDS, LLB, MBA or<br />

equivalent, relevant to their PhD studies<br />

IV. In the fields of Medicine and Dentistry, have qualified between October 1, 2001 and September 30,<br />

2006<br />

V. Be available to join the scholarship programme in United Kingdom in September/October 2011<br />

Split Site Doctoral Research Programme<br />

I. Should be officially registered in a doctoral programme, at a local Pakistani University, and intend to<br />

undertake a period of research in a UK University. The application form must be forwarded by head of<br />

University, where the applicant is enrolled in local PhD Programme<br />

II. Should have an approved PhD research topic and synopsis by the Board of Advanced Studies and<br />

Research (BASR) or Directorate of Advanced Studies and Research (DASR) or equivalent body of the<br />

University<br />

III. Should not have obtained below 50 per cent marks in their entire academic career (in any exam i.e. SSC,<br />

HSC, BA/BSc, Masters, etc.)<br />

IV. Should have obtained at least 60 per cent or above marks in Masters (e.g. MA/MSc or other 16 years of<br />

Masters <strong>Education</strong>) or in professional degrees e.g. BE/BSc Engineering, MBBS, BDS, LLB, MBA or<br />

equivalent, relevant to their PhD studies<br />

V. In the fields of Medicine and Dentistry, have qualified between October 1, 2001 and September 30, 2006<br />

VI. Be available to join the scholarship programme in the United Kingdom in September/October 2011.<br />

Detailed information is available on HEC website (www.hec.gov.pk/cw-uk), go through it properly before sending<br />

your application. Incomplete applications will NOT be accepted, for further processing. The decision of nominating<br />

agency i.e. HEC will be final and non-challengeable. All nominations from Pakistan will be routed via HEC. Last date<br />

for submission of application forms is October 20, 2010.<br />
