Central Records and <strong>Report</strong>s Unit The CRRU consists <strong>of</strong> the Record Room, the Warrant Office andthe Telephone <strong>Report</strong>ing Unit.The Record Room is where the public obtains copies <strong>of</strong> reports. Normal hours <strong>of</strong> operation are Mondaythrough Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. hours and are closed on <strong>City</strong> holidays. The phone numberfor the CRRU Records is 412-255-2920 and 2921. The Records area is located on the third floor <strong>of</strong> the<strong>Pittsburgh</strong> Municipal Courts Building, 660 First Ave, <strong>Pittsburgh</strong> PA 15219. <strong>Report</strong>s are obtainable inperson or by mail with pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> identification.• The public is entitled to all 2.0 reports (Incident report - a summary <strong>of</strong> incidents reported to thepolice); the cost <strong>of</strong> a report is currently set at $15.00 (as <strong>of</strong> October 8, 2007).• The public does not have access to 3.0 reports (Investigative reports) with the followingexceptions:1) The victim/s <strong>of</strong> a hit run report can obtain a 3.02) The victim/s <strong>of</strong> a burglary or robbery can obtain a list <strong>of</strong> the items they report taken duringthe time <strong>of</strong> a crime. They do not receive the narrative <strong>of</strong> the investigation.3) The victim/s <strong>of</strong> a theft or fraud can obtain a copy <strong>of</strong> the items that they list as taken duringthe time <strong>of</strong> the crime. They do not receive the narrative <strong>of</strong> the investigation.4) The victims <strong>of</strong> identity theft.• Persons involved in an accident can obtain copies <strong>of</strong> the reports. Price will be determined byaccident.Record Room Statistics:• 76,725 reports processed.• provided front counter service:1. processed 6,881 mail inquiries,2. serviced 2,506 on-site customer requests,3. answered/resolved 5,612 telephone requests.• Conducted records processing cost recovery totaling $127,540.00.The CRRU also perform the following critical functions that the public does not see:• Processes all arrests for city <strong>of</strong>ficers.• The TRU is a unit where civilian personnel take specific police reports by phone which keeps<strong>of</strong>ficers in the field available to respond to higher priority calls for service.• Processes (through coding and data entry) <strong>of</strong> police reports, records and other document for theBureau.• Performs quality control <strong>of</strong> data and <strong>final</strong> review <strong>of</strong> police reports for Uniform Crime <strong>Report</strong>(UCR) coding.• Processes court ordered expungements.• JNET Tac Officer (liaison <strong>of</strong>ficer with the State for access to criminal background checks) isassigned to the CRRU to manage our JNET/NCIC/CLEAN operations for the Bureau.• Maintains a list <strong>of</strong> active warrants.In <strong>2011</strong>, TRU had 9,452 calls dispatched with 7,881 reports taken.Court Liaison Unit: The Court Liaison Unit consists <strong>of</strong> police supervisors and clerical staff assigned tothe Criminal/Juvenile Courts and well as the Municipal Courts to act as a liaison between the various33
