Water use factors were then developed for the projection of future wateruse. A water use factor was calculated for each category in order to quantify the average waterused per metered connection. For a given customer type, the unit water use factor is calculatedas the total water sales for the category divided by the number of active service connections forthat category. The unit water use factors for each customer type were averaged over the datarange from 2000 through 2010 in order to obtain a representative water use factor that can beused for water demand projections by customer type.
