Econitydevelops membranes and modules optimized for highly concentratedbackwash water treatment. Keimyung University developsnext-generation membrane for water treatment using nanofibres andgraphemes. Daelim Industrial, the Waterworks Research Instituteof the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Korea Institute ofConstruction Technology (KICT) develop highly efficient, lowenergymembrane-advanced oxidation process (AOP) hybrid waterpurification systems in response to the issue of constituents ofemerging concerns (CECs) in water. In particular, the WaterworksResearch Institute of the Seoul Metropolitan Government devel-ops analytical methods for CECs and has establisheda database for CEC concentration in raw water. TheKorea Water Resources Corporation has established adatabase of source water quality and develops tools forwater treatment processes optimized for source water. In addition, the company develops retrofitting technologyfor the conventional water treatment process.GS E&C and nine other companies develop technologyfor the design, construction and operation ofintelligent integrated waterworks systems using IT-ETintegrated processes from source water to the tap. Testbeds with a capacity of 1,000-5,000 m 3 per day havebeen constructed at eight waterworks in six of Korea’slocal governments to develop advanced water treatmentsystems based on the membrane-AOP hybrid processes.[ 312 ]
