TEST RIG FOR RAILWAY NOISEProvrigg för järnvägsbullerPrüfstand für Schallfelder von EisenbahnenBanc de mesure pour bruits ferroviairesThe Railway Noise Test Rig (rntr) has been designedand constructed as planned, and the vb3 project wasfinished by 30 June 2000. A 25 m stretch of full-scaletrack with uic60 rails is used. A further development ofthe rig has taken place in the vb4 project. The rntr isbuilt outdoors on the Adtranz Wheelset (now LucchiniSweden) factory site at Surahammar. A special featureof rntr is that wheelsets and track, which are not inmechanical contact, can be excited both together andseparately (three different tests with the same excitation).The level and directivity of sound from wheelsets(or bogies) and track can thereby be established both intotal and separately. Microphone sweeps are performedover a quarter of a spherical surface. The track can bestatically preloaded.
