• HEADMASTER'S REPORTIt is fitt ing, perhaps, that after a briefstay of one year at Caulfield, I shouldrecord a few impressions of a year thathas been a strange m ixture of joys andsorrows, of high hopes and almost deepdespair. My joys and my hopes have beenraised by the outstanding successes ofthe boys of the school - their triumphsat football and athletics, their wonderfulresponse to charitable appeals, theexcellent performances of the choir onpublic occasions, and by the spirit ofwholehearted co-operation shown by thegreat majority of the students. Sorrowand despair have been caused by thosefew boys who have proved dishonest, untruthfulor delinquent. Among the boys,I hope, I have mode many friends. Thereare many boys whose futures I wiII followwith the greatest of interest whetherin their further education, in their chosencareers or in the field of sport. It has been a privilege and a pleasureto work with my colleagues on the staff;their readiness to help, their willing cooperationand their cheerful acceptanceof many extra burdens have been, to me,a source of encouragement and inspira t ion.In conclusion, may I soy that everystudent has a grave responsibility to theCaulfield Technical School, a responsibilityto be regular and punctual in attendance,to be attentive to his lessons,to be properly clod, and to behove at alltimes in a manner that will bring creditto himself, to his family and to hisschool. On the other hand, the schoolhas an equal responsibility to the boys,to see that every boy receives the understanding, the sympathy, the toleranceand the justice he merits, and that he isfully prepared to face adult life in acommunity bristling with problems. My best wishes to all at Caulfield fora happy and successful future.• OBITUARYIt is with deep regret that we recordthe death of one of our teachers andtwo of our students during the year.Mr. Stan Brown collapsed and diedsuddenly while on duty on 9th July.
