One ofthese was to Carlton where we studiedthe slums.We left C<strong>au</strong>lfield at about 9 o'c loc kand a rrived at Carlton at a bout 10 . 1S.As soon a s we arrived we be gan ta kingnotes and those of us with ca mera s tookso me ph otographs. After about twohours we returned to school.All in 0[1 it wa s a ve ry en joya b le and<strong>edu</strong>cational morning .Our form capta in is J im Leitch.• FORM 1F NOTESJust before the first term holidays, weof Form 1F went with Mr . Tonkin on anexcursion to see how th e people in thes lums at Carlton live .We c<strong>au</strong>ght the train at C<strong>au</strong>lfieldstation at 9 o'cl ock and arrived at Flinders St reet at about 9.45. We then t ra v­elled by tram from Hinders Street toCarlton, arriving at the Carlton Missionat about 10.30. We went ins ide theM ission buildings and the people theretold us about the co nd itions under whichthe pe ople of the slum areas live. Wethe n left the Mission and walked aboutthe streets to see what we had just beentold about.The whole morning was a very pleasantouting and we would like to goagain. (Form captain, K. Porter filled second and thirdplaces respectively.Most of our high marks would nothave been obtained without the helpfulteaching of Mr. Davis, our form teacherand our moths. teacher, Mr. Satchell.Earl ier this year ou r fo rm went on anexcurs ion to the docks of Melbourne.
