Neef, B. Munce, W. W yatt.• SENIOR FOOTBALLThis year's fo otball season was on e ofthe best ever for the C<strong>au</strong>lfield team. Inprevious years Coulfield has not beenvery succe ssful on the football field,winning only one game lost year andlos ing eve ry match in 1955. However,this year there was a big improvement.At the beginning fo the season therewere severa l practice matches in whichwe were beaten by Toorak Teachers'College twice and narrowly beaten bySwin burn e; but we soundly defeatedBurwood Teachers' College and, in thelast practice game, completely overwhelmedUniversity High School.In the f irst pennant match of theyea r we played Footscray on their home43ground. Footscroy produced some brilliantfootball in the fi rst half wh ich wecould not counter. However, in t he secondhalf, we settled down and playedconsiderably better, but Footscraymaintained their big lead and went onto win quite comfortably. The next gamewas Geelong at Geelong, where we againfound th e home side t oo strong. Afteran excellent lunch we ran out on to therain sodden Kardinia Park Oval w iththe ra in showi ng no sign of ea sing. Geelong,adapting themselves to the wetcond it ions, had established a handylead by half time. However, in the secondholf, C<strong>au</strong>lfield played much betterbut we cou ld not bridge the gap andGeelong won quite convincinqly.For the third game, when we were
