guides for <strong>the</strong> exam are available on <strong>the</strong> portal.‣ Language Placement Exams: <strong>Student</strong>s who have previously studied Greek or Hebrew (at <strong>the</strong>graduate or undergraduate level) and wish to receive credit for that language work must take aplacement exam before registration. <strong>Student</strong>s who pass <strong>the</strong> exam will fulfill <strong>the</strong> MAET Greekprerequisite or receive advanced standing or transfer credit for Hebrew.Exam study guides are available from One-Stop or <strong>the</strong> Admissions office.‣ Thesis: The MAET <strong>the</strong>sis (MA399) must demonstrate <strong>the</strong> use of standard research methods andan adequate grasp and treatment of <strong>the</strong> subject matter. The style and grammar must conform to<strong>the</strong> latest edition of Kate Turabian’s A Manual for Writers. Thesis Procedures, a resourceavailable from One-Stop, outlines <strong>the</strong> requirements <strong>the</strong> student must meet.The student must select a <strong>the</strong>sis topic and receive approval from <strong>the</strong> MAET Thesis Advisor nolater than seven months before receiving <strong>the</strong> degree. The MAET Thesis Advisor will determine<strong>the</strong> student’s Thesis Committee (advisor, reader). The advisor must approve an outline andbibliography no later than six months before a student plans to receive <strong>the</strong> MAET degree. Thestudent must register and pay for MA Thesis Supervision I (MA397) no later than <strong>the</strong> semesterfollowing approval of <strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong>sis proposal. The student must register for MA Thesis Supervision II(MA398) no later than <strong>the</strong> semester in which <strong>the</strong> student plans to graduate.No <strong>the</strong>sis will be considered completed until <strong>the</strong> final format and style have been approved by<strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong>sis committee and <strong>the</strong> Library Director. The student must pay <strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong>sis binding fee in<strong>the</strong> semester of anticipated graduation. The student should submit two copies of <strong>the</strong> completed<strong>the</strong>sis for binding and permanent retention in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong> library. Both copies must be printedon 20-pound acid-free paper and typed in a standard typeface appropriate for scholarly material.‣ Distance Education Studies: Due to <strong>the</strong> language-intensive nature of this degree and <strong>the</strong> lack ofGreek- and Hebrew-based work in distance education courses, MAET students may take onlychurch history or ST360 Christian Ethics by distance education, totaling no more than 9 hoursof course work.MASTER OF THEOLOGY (ThM)[13]
