<strong>Covenant</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong> welcomes students from o<strong>the</strong>r countries and cultures and invites applications frompeople serving <strong>the</strong> Church around <strong>the</strong> world. Completed applications should be sent no later than sixmonths prior to <strong>the</strong> desired entry date, since additional steps are involved in processing internationalapplicants.Applicants from outside <strong>the</strong> United States must meet <strong>the</strong> U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services(USCIS; formerly known as <strong>the</strong> Immigration and Naturalization Service, or INS) requirements and <strong>the</strong>standards of spiritual maturity and academic proficiency required of all students, including a NorthAmerican bachelor’s degree or its educational equivalent.According to federal law, international students must demonstrate (documented) adequate resources tofinance <strong>the</strong>ir education by providing official bank statements and letters from sponsors. Thisdocumentation of financial support must be submitted before student visa applications can be sent.Available scholarships apply only to tuition and do not cover housing, food, books or transportationcosts.<strong>Student</strong>s with F-1 visa status must remain full-time while attending <strong>Covenant</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong>. According toUSCIS guidelines, students with visa status o<strong>the</strong>r than F-1 may not enroll full-time. If students need tochange <strong>the</strong> number of hours <strong>the</strong>y are taking, <strong>the</strong>y should first contact <strong>the</strong> International <strong>Student</strong> Advisor(in One-Stop).International students who have questions regarding student visas, changes to immigration status, oro<strong>the</strong>r immigration issues should contact <strong>the</strong> International <strong>Student</strong> Advisor.ENGLISH LANGUAGE SKILLSProspective students for whom English is not <strong>the</strong>ir first language must take <strong>the</strong> Internet-based Test ofEnglish as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). For admission, <strong>Covenant</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong> requires a score of 84(written, 21; speaking, 24; reading, 20; listening, 19). (<strong>Covenant</strong><strong>Seminary</strong>’s TOEFL code number is 6141).<strong>Student</strong>s identified by <strong>the</strong> faculty as having weak English skills may be required to take courses in writtenand spoken English until <strong>the</strong>ir skills are judged to be adequate.[41]
