INTRODUCTIONOur goal at <strong>Covenant</strong> <strong>Theological</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong> is to glorify <strong>the</strong> triune God by training his servants to walk inGod’s grace, minister God’s Word, and equip God’s people – all for God’s mission. The <strong>Seminary</strong> staff iscommitted to serving <strong>the</strong> student body to <strong>the</strong> best of our ability. We know that you also want to beinformed of our various policies and procedures, and we have written this <strong>Student</strong> <strong>Handbook</strong> for thatpurpose.The academic regulations in this <strong>Student</strong> <strong>Handbook</strong> are based upon and update <strong>the</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong>’s Catalog.In <strong>the</strong> case of differences between <strong>the</strong> Catalog and <strong>the</strong> <strong>Handbook</strong>, <strong>the</strong> <strong>Handbook</strong> supersedes. <strong>Student</strong>sshould consult <strong>the</strong> <strong>Handbook</strong>, and especially any registration materials, for current curriculum andcourse description information.<strong>Covenant</strong> <strong>Theological</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong> reserves <strong>the</strong> right to add to, modify or withdraw any provisions in thishandbook. Although policies are under constant review to better serve <strong>the</strong> students and <strong>the</strong> institution,<strong>the</strong> provisions of this handbook normally are subject to change only on an annual basis. <strong>Student</strong>s areresponsible for knowing <strong>the</strong> contents of this <strong>Handbook</strong> and <strong>the</strong> policies covered in it.ACCREDITATION<strong>Covenant</strong> <strong>Theological</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong> is incorporated in <strong>the</strong> state of Missouri with full authority to grantacademic degrees. The <strong>Seminary</strong> is accredited by <strong>the</strong> Higher Learning Commission of <strong>the</strong> North CentralAssociation of Colleges and Schools (30 N. LaSalle St., Suite 2400, Chicago, IL 60602-2504; tel. 800-621-7440; www.ncacihe.org) and by <strong>the</strong> Association of <strong>Theological</strong> Schools (10 Summit Drive,Pittsburgh, PA 15275-1103; tel. 412-788-6505; www.ats.edu). Each website provides a list of all schoolsaccredited by <strong>the</strong> organization (with a profile of each school) for anyone wishing to verify accreditation.The <strong>Seminary</strong>’s accreditation status helps students qualify for military chaplaincy upon graduation,transfer credits to o<strong>the</strong>r institutions, gain acceptance to graduate programs for more advanced study, andqualify for student loans.DOCTRINAL COMMITMENTS<strong>Covenant</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong>’s faculty and Board of Trustees annually subscribe in writing to <strong>the</strong> Bible as <strong>the</strong>Word of God, immediately inspired and inerrant in its original writings, and to <strong>the</strong> WestminsterConfession of Faith and Catechisms, which, although subordinate to <strong>the</strong> Bible in <strong>the</strong>ir authority, set[1]
