Using the SystemNote: Horn function is an programmable feature, it is Off by default. See Feature Menus and ProgrammingSystem Features to turn on.LockingPressing for one second locks the system (if the door locks are connected). The horn honks (see note) andthe parking lights flash once to confirm the system is locked.UnlockingPressing for one second unlocks the doors (if connected). The horn honks twice and the parking lightsflash twice to confirm unlocking of the system.Panic ModeIf you are threatened in or near your vehicle, you can attract attention by trig ger ing the system with yourremote control. Press and hold for 2 seconds to enter Panic Mode. In Panic Mode, the horn will honk andthe parking lights will flash for 30 seconds. To stop Panic Mode at any time, press , or on the remotecontrol.Note: In order for Panic Mode to be effective, the vehicle’s horn (or optional siren) and the vehicle's parkinglights must be connected.<strong>Remote</strong> StartThis feature allows you to remotely start and run your vehicle for a pro gram ma ble period of time. This makesit possible to warm up the engine, and adjust the interior tem per a ture of the ve hi cle with the climate controlsystem. If interior heating or cooling is desired, the climate controls must be preset, and the fan blower mustbe set to the desired level prior to remote starting the vehicle.Warning! (1) Never remote start your vehicle when the keys are in theignition, except when performing Valet Take-Over, and (2) Never startthe vehicle if it is not in PARK or NEUTRALTo remote start the vehicle:• Press the button once (default)*.• The parking lights flash to confirm that the vehicle is attempting to start. In gasoline vehicles the enginewill start 4 seconds after the parking lights flash, in diesel vehicles the engine starts after the Wait-To-Starttimer has expired (default is Off)*.• Once the vehicle has started, it will run for 12 minutes (default)*, or until a shutdown input is trig gered.* Defaults: <strong>Remote</strong> Start Activation Pulse Count (button presses), Wait-To-Start timer and Engine Runtime canbe changed, see corresponding features in Feature Menus and Programming System Features.Warning! It is unsafe to operate a vehicle’s motor in a garage or otherclosed off area. Breathing the ex haust from the vehicle is hazardous toyour health. Never activate the remote start in an enclosed space.When you are ready to drive the vehicle:1. Insert the ignition key and turn it to the On (not the START) po sition.2. Press the brake pedal.
