<strong>DAP</strong> <strong>2009</strong>/<strong>10</strong> <strong>Final</strong>range of client needs and will enable clients to move freely between servicesaccording to their needs and the requirements of clients and their families/ whanau.4.2 Service coverage expectations<strong>Taranaki</strong> <strong>District</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Board</strong> meets the requirements of the national servicecoverage document as specified in the Operational Policy Framework and ServiceCoverage Schedule. At the time of writing, <strong>Taranaki</strong> <strong>District</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Board</strong> has notidentified any exceptions to the Service Coverage Schedule for <strong>2009</strong>/<strong>10</strong>.4.3 Service issuesAs an input to vulnerable services planning, the Midland region completed a processin April <strong>2009</strong> to identify publicly funded services within the region with short termvulnerability issues (up to June 20<strong>10</strong>). Our focus for the first year is on hospitalservices given the government's interest in this area. Vulnerable services are thosewhere significant workforce shortages challenge the viability of the service, create aninability to maintain safe and appropriate quality services, and/or are jeopardised bya lack of critical mass.The vulnerable services identified have been categorised and assigned to the level(district, regional, national), that should take a lead in ongoing management of theservice issues identified. We have also prioritised the services identified according tothe risk and impact of service failure, and agreed to an overall priority order within theregion.The Midland region will, over <strong>2009</strong>/<strong>10</strong>, provide regular reports to the Ministryregarding these services including:a current action plan for securing ongoing access to these services within theregionthe criteria used to assess vulnerabilitybarriers to implementation of longer term, more enduring solutions, where theseare apparent.32
