ARAMARK Dining ServicesProthro Dining FacilitiesThe campus’ main dining facility is a vibrant community space utilized by boththe <strong>College</strong> and members of the local community. To assist ARAMARK inmaintaining a consistent and quality dining service program, cooperation andsupport of the following policies is requested.Use of Dining HallThe Dining Hall service area is open for meals at the following times: Breakfast,7-9:30 a.m., Continental Breakfast, 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m., Lunch, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Lite Lunch, 1:30 p.m.-2:00 p.m., Dinner 5-7:30 p.m. Monday throughThursday, Friday Dinner 5-7 p.m., Saturday Breakfast 8:30-11 a.m., Lunch11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Sunday Brunch 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and Dinner 5-7 p.m.The Dining Hall is not available between meals, or after hours when the <strong>College</strong>is closed, unless a request for a special event has been approved through theDirector of Dining Services, ext. 6145.Removal of Equipment and Supplies The china, glassware, silver and tableappointments are purchased for use in the dining hall only. Replacement ofthese items is costly and is an inconvenience to other students when the suppliesrun out. Removing these items can be considered stealing and therefore isconsidered a violation of the standards of non-academic conduct.Off-Premises Meals Dining Services does not provide student meals, groceriesor uncooked food for off-premise consumption. The only exceptions are baglunches for special occasions.Campus groups/departments wishing to hold a special function in Prothroshould plan their event to start no earlier than 7:30 p.m. In an effort to keepthe atmosphere during meals congenial and compatible with pleasant dining, werestrict activities during meals to general announcements and student sponsoredevents that have been approved by the Director to satisfy its primary function ofstudent dining. <strong>Student</strong>s are encouraged to bring their guests to meals and theyare expected to ensure that guests’ meals are paid for before entering the servicearea. Payment can be made at the front desk in Prothro Atrium. In compliancewith Virginia ABC Regulations, no alcoholic beverages are permitted in thedining hall, unless served by the Catering department.Bag Lunches Bag lunches are provided for field trips, student teaching andathletic activities off campus. Bag lunches are not provided for non-<strong>College</strong>related activities. They must be requested by the faculty or staff member incharge, at least 48 hours prior to the event.________________________________________________________________118
Takeout Food and Snacks The Dining Service program is designed only formeals consumed in the dining hall. It is expected that students will occasionallymiss some meals; therefore funds have been budgeted accordingly. Food andbeverages are not to be taken out for “snacks”. Takeout trays are not provided tostudents, faculty, staff or guests. Food is not permitted to be taken from ProthroDining Room in personal containers.Houston Bistro Located in the Fitness and Athletics Center, the Houston Bistrooffers a relaxed cafe atmosphere for the <strong>Sweet</strong> <strong>Briar</strong> community and a pubatmosphere during the evening hours offering light fare, alcoholic/non-alcoholicbeverages and other options.Extended Dining Option All students currently on the board plan can dine atThe Houston Bistro three meals a week. Simply show your ID and you will beallowed to purchase up to $6.25 of food. Packaged items, large pizza andalcoholic beverages are excluded from this plan.<strong>Sweet</strong> <strong>Briar</strong> Card The <strong>Sweet</strong> <strong>Briar</strong> card is the <strong>College</strong>’s official identificationcard issued to all members of the <strong>College</strong> community. It is required foridentification, access to essential campus services, and functions as a convenientpayment method (<strong>Sweet</strong>Cash) for services on campus. For more information,please go to www.sweetbriarcard.com. <strong>Sweet</strong>Cash is a prepaid spending accounton students’ <strong>Sweet</strong> <strong>Briar</strong> Card that is accepted all around the <strong>Sweet</strong> <strong>Briar</strong>campus. Replacement cards can be obtained through Campus Safety at a cost of$20.00.ARAMARK Catering Services Catering services are available to all students,faculty and staff. Catering provides staff, food and beverages for many <strong>College</strong>events that take place in non food service facilities. Catering, at ext. 6340, canassist in the planning, cost estimates and coordination of services.
