TheOffice of the Dean of the Faculty has responsibility for the following areas:academic advising and counseling; admission with advanced standing; classattendance; requests for special accommodations, withdrawal from the <strong>College</strong>and readmission after withdrawal; academic eligibility; study abroad; academicadvising for foreign students; and independent study work.Office of the Registrar: my.sbc.edu/registrarThe Office of the Registrar, located on the third floor of Prothro Hall, is thesource of information and assistance on course offerings, course registration,class schedules, registration changes, classroom assignments, academic records,grades and grade reports, grade point averages, requests for transcripts,declaration of majors, transfer credit, graduation requirements, and summerschool class approval.Academic PoliciesClass AttendanceThe <strong>College</strong> maintains that regular class attendance is essential to its educationalplan. It is the responsibility of the student to attend all classes and to keep uptheir work. Faculty may take attendance and class participation into account ingrading. <strong>Student</strong>s residing in the residence halls are expected to maintain regularclass attendance. Failure to do so can be reported to the Dean of Co-CurricularLife or Director of Academic Advising.Pass/Credit/No Credit Grading Option:A student with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 may, with theapproval of her advisor and the instructor, choose to take a total of two courseson a “Pass/Credit/No Credit” basis. A student in her first term at <strong>Sweet</strong> <strong>Briar</strong> isnot eligible for this option. Some courses may not be taken with this option;refer to the <strong>College</strong> Catalog for details.<strong>Student</strong>s who earn grades of “C-” or higher will receive a final grade of “P,”those who earn grades of “D+,” “D,” or “D-” will receive a final grade of “CR;”and those who earn a grade of “F” will receive a final grade of “NC.”________________________________________________________________88
