The <strong>College</strong> also recognizesthat not all students can or desire to live on campus. <strong>Student</strong>s who choose toenroll at <strong>Sweet</strong> <strong>Briar</strong> and have a home address within the following areas maylive off-campus and still participate fully in the <strong>College</strong> as non-residentialstudents: Albemarle County, Amherst County, Appomattox County, BedfordCity, Bedford County, Buckingham County, Buena Vista City, CampbellCounty, Charlottesville City, Lexington City, Lynchburg City, Nelson County,and Rockbridge County.<strong>Student</strong>s with a home address outside of the above-listed areas who wish toenroll at <strong>Sweet</strong> <strong>Briar</strong> and be a non-residential student are encouraged to contactthe Admissions Office (434.381.6142) or the Office of Co-Curricular Life(434.381.6134) for more information.Additional information regarding Non-Residential students can be found onpage 98.Married <strong>Student</strong>sSince campus student housing is not available for married couples, the studentand her partner are responsible for making off-campus housing arrangements.Any student who marries during their time at SBC, may maintain theirresidency, but must make other accommodations for their partner.Room AssignmentsRoom assignments are made for the entire academic year. Residency must befor one academic year, unless the student is completing the requirements forgraduation at the end of the fall semester, entering the <strong>College</strong> for the first timeat the beginning of the spring semester, spending a semester abroad, or if ahousing vacancy has occurred which would permit occupancy for a shorterperiod of time. Returning students select rooms in the spring semester during theroom selection process. New students are assigned a residence hall space duringthe summer, generally based on roommate compatibility. The Office ofResidence Life reserves the right to change room assignments and/or consolidatespaces whenever necessary, without prior notification. Special note: In situationswhere roommate conflicts become irreconcilable, any or all occupants of theroom in question will be required by the <strong>College</strong> to move.
