These concerned nodes have been provided with onecomputer and its peripherals. These SAMD/Boards/ Markets are tocollect desi<strong>red</strong> market information and pass on to respective stateauthorities and Head Office <strong>of</strong> the DMI for forward dissemination.The eligible markets will get 100 percent grant by Ministry <strong>of</strong>Agriculture. National Agriculture Policy has proposed for coverage<strong>of</strong> another 2000 nodes during the Tenth Plan.NAFED is the nodal agency <strong>of</strong> Government <strong>of</strong> India to undertakeprocurement <strong>of</strong> Red <strong>gram</strong> under price support scheme.The objective <strong>of</strong> scheme is to provide regular marketing support tosustain and improve the production <strong>of</strong> Red <strong>gram</strong>.Purchases under PSS are undertaken when the prices <strong>of</strong> Red<strong>gram</strong> rate at or below the decla<strong>red</strong> support prices for a particularyear.To correct regional imbalances and to provide needed momentumto the pace <strong>of</strong> development <strong>of</strong> various pro<strong>gram</strong>me <strong>of</strong> co-operativeagricultural marketing, processing, storage etc. in under/leastdeveloped states/UTs by providing financial assistance on liberalterms to augment the income <strong>of</strong> farmers and weaker sections <strong>of</strong>the community.The scheme provides for distribution <strong>of</strong> agricultural inputs,development <strong>of</strong> agro-processing including storage, marketing <strong>of</strong>foodgrains and plantation/horticulture crops, development <strong>of</strong>weaker and tribal sections, cooperatives, in dairy, poultry andfisheries.50
