According to <strong>the</strong> U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau ofLabor Statistics, <strong>the</strong> employed labor <strong>for</strong>ce was 2.8 million at June 30, 2009, a decrease of nearly 95,000jobs or 3.2 percent. The regional unemployment rate of 6.5 percent <strong>com</strong>pares favorably with <strong>the</strong> nationalunemployment rate of 9.5 percent at June 2009.
