11PrefaceIt is essential that each one of the votaries of a religion shouldknow its doctrines. Experience has, however, testified, that onaccount of the extreme paucity of dogmatic treatises of the SyrianOrthodox Church in Malayalam, many of Her members in Malankaratend to study the books of other sects, that are handy. As such initiallearnings create on their minds the preliminary knowledge aboutreligion, they consider them to be true and pure. Consequently, manymembers of the Orthodox Church turn renegade and launch tiradeagainst Her tenets. Even though this text will not be able to completelysolve the lacuna of the lack of books, it is hoped, that this will behelpful to provide the members of the Church general informationwith regard to the beliefs and tenets of the Church and therebypreserve them in Orthodoxy. This book has been prepared after thescrutiny of the authentic treatises like Mnorath Qudshe,[Kthobo d-] Zalge, Canon etc. of authors such asMor Gregorios Bar Ebroyo et. al. As an appendix, the names of theheretics that arose in the Church, in the days gone by and theirheresies have been incorporated.
