74148Quintessence of Religious DoctrinesTheme No: 31On ResurrectionIntroductionThe soul and the body are rendered separate by the stroke ofdeath. The body thereupon returns to dust.CommentAccording to the theology of the S.O.C. death is a feat ofseparation. In death the body and the soul are separated.Earth unto earth or dust unto dust, the body returns, whilethe soul soars up to its ethereal abode.1. On the Dooms Day, however, the body will be resurrected, unite with the soul, attain indestructibility and enjoy eternalblessings or suffer eternal damnation. Everyone must hold thisview. Nobody should believe at all, the theories put forward bysome pagans that resurrection is reserved for the just and sothere is no general resurrection or the theory that resurrectionimplies, transmigration of the souls from one human body toanother human body.Ref: (a) Is. 26:19. Those of our people who have died willlive again! Their bodies will come back to life. Allthose sleeping in their graves will wake up and singfor joy. As the sparkling dew refreshes the earth sothe Lord will revive those who have long been dead.(G.N.B.)(b) Dan. 12:2. Many of those who have already diedwill live again: Some will enjoy eternal life and somewill suffer eternal disgrace. (G.N.B.)(c) Jn. 5:28, 29. Do not be surprised at this; the time iscoming when all the dead will hear his voice andcome out of their graves; those who have done goodwill rise and live and those who have done evil willrise and be condemned. (G.N.B.)(d) Rom. 6:5. For, since we have become one with himand dying as he did, in the same way we shall beone with him by being raised to life as he was.(G.N.B.)(e) vide. 1Cor. 15: 7(f) vide. Ezek. 37: 7CommentHere is a paraphrase as to what befalls a body at death. Asnoted above earth holds the body; but at the herald of thedooms day, all the departed souls without any exception wouldreunite with their original body and face the retributivejudgement of the Lord. Once the judgement is passed thehumans with their bodies and souls reunited, would go toeternal damnation or eternal salvation. This is the rationalefor keeping the dead bodies in tact without any maiming ormutilation. The doctrine of transmigration as held by theHindus, Buddists, Jains, Sikhs and some others is notacceptable to the S.O.C. One of the reasons for this is thatthe S.O.C. as other sects of Christianity subscribes itself tothe linear computation of time as against the cyclic conceptionupheld by Hindus and other religions of Indian origin.
